Get ready for prat-falls and double takes a plenty, live music and the best ever work from the comic giants of the silent screen. Hosted by Paul Merton and takes place at the assembly room. The eclectic programme is bursting at the seams with extracts of silent films biggest comic stars, from Buster Keaton to
Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd to Charley Chase.
Merton says:
"Silent comedy has been a life long passion for me, It promises to be an excellent twelve days – you'd be mad to miss it".
Organiser and Bristol Silent’s founder Chris Daniels is delighted to be bringing Slapstick’s’ first live events to Edinburgh. He says: “With huge success of Paul Merton’s Silent Clowns on BBC4 this is a unique opportunity to see Paul live introducing the great comics of the past that have influenced so many of today's comedians, including Paul. I think people will be amazed by the quality and talent of artists they may never even have heard of – the films are still relevant, and, most importantly, just as funny, today as they were eighty years ago.”
